Have you ever wondered about the companionship aspect of marriage? God made everything and He said it was ‘good!’ But when he saw Adam alone he said that it was ‘not good’ that man should be alone. God created Eve to be a helper and a companion. This was all before the rebellion of Adam & the fall of our race.
Now since the fall man and woman just can’t seem to get together! I am talking about Sandi and I! As much as I’d like to provide true companionship to my wife I seem unable to do the very thing I wish to do … but truly God is wise and benevolent to his sons and daughters. I can see that if I were perfectly suited to provide full, ‘kindred spirit’ companionship to my wife, she may be tempted to neglect her greater relationship with Christ.
But still, don’t I despise myself when a sharp word comes out of my mouth? I say such things when the tree is green … what will I do when it is dry? Luke 23:31
