Is it good to read your Bible regularly? Of course, but have you ever thought about the 1,500 years prior to the printing press when virtually no-one had their own copy of the Bible?

Did God leave His people without provision for those many years? Are we so arrogant that we imagine ourselves as meriting superior treatment from the God of heaven? Or is it possible that He might have a greater plan for feeding His people?

I would argue that although personal Bible reading should be a part of every modern Christian’s life, the primary means of instruction and sanctification remains with corporate worship and preaching/teaching of the Word in the context of the local church.

If we really understood this we should certainly have a greater appreciation for the local church — corporate worship and meeting together is essential to the Christian life!
